Holiday Glitz: Time to join the Glam Squad
Yes we know it's early, still October and not even Halloween yet. So why the heck are we doing a blog about Holiday dresses? The Early bird get's the dress!! If you want to order your coveted dress or gown online in time for mid-November Christmas parties, the time to buy your dress is now! Stores in the GTA are just starting to get their stock in and they sell out of styles and sizes fast. It's just easier to enjoy the holiday season knowing you have a kick-ass outfit in the closet and don't have to worry about what to wear when the invites start pouring in. FYI: Simple is out and Glam is in....Make a statement.
Before we get into the Glitz and Glam cocktail dresses and evening wear, (Above) Annie is wearing a beautiful blouse by Joseph Ribkoff, available at Gussied Up in Vaughan. The shirt has a silky texture and rope detailing along the neck and arms that's perfect for a casual family get-together on Christmas Day. The cut is also figure flattering.
LET'S GET ON TO DRESSES
Annie and Jay Love the Collections available from Kiyonna and Addition Elle for this year's Holiday Season. Kiyonna gowns are available in the GTA at SexyPlus clothing Boutique... I had a brief e-mail conversation with owner Stefanie Augusteijn, and tells me the Gatsby Gown will be arriving at her store next week. The gold Maven dress is available online from the Kiyonna store. That being said talk to Stef, she'll do the leg work for you and order the dress in---even if she doesn't have it in stock!
We also had a great deal of luck at Gussied Up Clothing in Vaughan, recently. One of our favourite plus-size designers Joseph Ribkoff had some looks that caught our eye, and Gussied Up had the dress we coveted in stock.

Jay's dress pic for this year's holiday party is a flirty, sexy, red and black dress by designer Joseph Ribkoff. Available at Plus Size Boutique, Gussied Up in Vaughan. Price $289.50. Jay paired the dress with a black sequin vintage bolero, red lipstick and heels. The dress is stretchy. Jay usually wears a size 18/20, but in this dress she wore at size 16. ( Jay is no where close to a size 16) The dress is as comfortable as it is pretty. The fabric is also very soft and the cut is great for Apple shapes like Jay. It can be belted higher at the narrowest part of the body to create a flattering shape.

I don't know what it's called and I don't know what it costs, but this peacock blue/green brocade dress is a showstopper. I'm guessing it will be available online by next week.
INVEST IN A STATEMENT JACKET WITH A FLATTERING CUT WITH LUXE DETAILS TO MAKE A GRAND ENTRANCE
Having a nice dress jacket is a must. ( don't be the girl that runs down to the coat check to ditch a slicker or a bomber jacket. This coat is a staple. Dark Eyes and deep hued lips create a dramatic affect for a night out.
Jay contoured her face with her Kat Von D contouring powder set, highlighted the centre of her chin and forhead and cheek bones with Becca highlighting powder in Moondust, blending well with a sponge. Eyes were lined with black eyeliner and smudged, Jay added a few layers of black mascara and a pair of thick false eyelashes for extra drama. Jay's favourite new lipstick kit (see below) by Bobbi Brown, allows you to mix the perfect red or gold combinations for your holiday look.
