I think the best way to wear poka dots is to remember there isn't any rules. Mix a black and white poka dot skirt with a floral top, or another mixed print. Polka dots are one the most versatile patterns to wear, and look fabulous on a vintage inspired dress. I love a classic pattern in black and white or Navy and white.
