2016 Autumn Fashion Trends ... plus picks

August 21, 2016

I checked out the runway looks from NY fashion week for Fall/Winter 2016 and it's not been easy to narrow down the trends. Anything and everything walked down the runway from 80's glam rock looks (Saint Laurent), strange fur laden, embroidered Goth dolls (Marc Jacobs),  to velvet encased renaissance women ( Gucci)   Trends are not pointing towards minimalist.   The next problem is trying to find a way to wear a trend in everyday life.  I tried my best!

PEEK- A- BOO LACE

Alberta ferretti Fall 2016

Love and Legend Black lace see-through top with Deep-V neck.  $48.00 www.additionelle.com

Instead of trying for a head to toe boudoir look, try this in a top. If you're scared to show too much skin, wear a tank under the blouse with a contrasting colour to make the detail in the lace pop.

BIG BOLD FUR

I prefer to not wear real fur because I value the life of the animals more then having a stylish coat. If you're like me, there are many options out there for faux furs.

OFF THE SHOULDER

If you love your shoulders, and want to try this trend, Kiyonna has an adorable little cold-shoulder top that has a little bit of crochet, also on trend.I love how the top offers a longer sleeve.  (Only problem with cold shoulder tops is that it's hard to hide the bra straps.)

CALI CROCHET TOP $68.00

CHOKERS

Chokers are back, and I'm not talking about the tiny piece of ribbon/ meant to look like a tattoo choker we all wore in the 90's. There are heavy, bold collar-like monstrosities.  Unless you have a neck like a gazelle ( I don't)  this might not be the most flattering look. This isn't a trend I'm likely to follow, but, there seems to be an interest in dressing up the neck this year. I may switch to more scarves.
